Bonkura, loosely translated into English, means Bonehead. This is a term applied to me on occasion, and one I wear as a badge of pride.

Welcome to Big Bonkura.com

This is my site, and I'm in charge here. If you don't like it, tough. I started my webpage back in 2003, with a homemade design called “The Narrow Road to the South”. That evolved into “Highway 268 Revisited” a slightly more suave design that served me well for the past few years. Of course it was a little confusing, since the domain name I've held for those same past few years has been BigBonkura.com. So, now, with this latest redesign, I've simplified things to their Bonkura roots. (If you're still not sure what a bonkura is, take a look below the photo to the left.)

So What is Big Bonkura.com?

The whole reason why I created a homepage back in 2003, is because I happened to be living in Japan at the time, and wanted a convenient way to show off my photographs. I lived in Kagoshima from 2000 to 2005, and had a great opportunity to photograph some exceptionally beautiful places. And although I tend toward surliness, I enjoy people complementing my photography. So, I decided to find a way to show off those photos. Now if only I could figure out a way to make money off of them...

Now I'm back in Colorado, another location with no shortage of great places to take photographs. I've also been lucky enough to travel around the U.S. a fair amount, so I have photographs from quite a few western states in my collection as well.

What's Next?

I'm still working on the design and code of this particular page, so consider it a work in progress. I have quite a backlog of new photographs to put into albums as well. I'll get around to it sooner or later.

At any rate, keep checking back. If you see any problems or have any suggestions, feel free to send me an email at the address below.
